Frogs are important indicators of ecological health, since they exist on both land and in water and occupy different places of the food web during the different phases of their lives. The first painting shows a Pickerel Frog (Lithobates palustris) and the second painting shows an American Bullfrog (Lithobates catesbeianus). Both frogs were photographed in Huntley Meadows during my Virginia Master Naturalist training last year. These paintings depict the spaces that exist outside and around our human worlds. It is my hope that my artwork and naturalist work help cultivate healthy communities for myself and others.
